WELCOME TO DOUBLE A AUDIO
My name is Alan Atkinson. Get it? Two A’s? I am the creator, owner, and operator of Double A Audio. Since I was in the 8th grade...yikes...back in the 70’s... I have had a passion for music and audio.
The first real musical instrument I pursued was the Trombone. Yes, I was…and still am…a Band Geek! It was obvious to me that I needed to make Music Education a career. After high school I was accepted into East Carolina University’s Music School. During my college career I studied piano (jazz and classical) with Dr. Everett Pittman and Dr. Paul Tardiff. I studied Trombone with George Broussard. I also fell in love with music Technology (using computers to assist in musical composition/arranging/recording). I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Music Education from ECU. I then became a Band Director in the Wake County Public School System where I spent 30 years teaching the young about the workings and power of Music. I am now retired from The Wake County Public Schools and my musical concentration is on my compositions, arrangements, clients and performances.
I not only have been teaching music all those years, I have been performing it. In March of 1982 I joined the Central Park Band as their Trombonist/Vocalist. In 1992 I became their Musical Director, keyboardist (piano and synthesizers and synthesizer programmer), and manager. In 2009, after 25 great and unforgettable years I said goodbye to The Central Park Band. The musical knowledge I gained through The CPB was massive! Since we played mainly wedding receptions we had to offer a wide variety of music utilizing the latest in music technologies (computer hard/software). All this experience will be utilized at Double A Audio!
